Chemical-free Cleaning For Healthier Utah Homes

Hello Utah! Salt Lake City parents do such a great job at keeping their children safe and healthy. They help them with homework, take them to parks and museums, keep up on their well-child visits and immunizations, and feed them healthy well-rounded diets. Here is one more thing parents can do for their children’s health.

Because we live in such a chemical-filled world, any time parents can cut down on the amounts of chemicals used in the home, the better. Here are a few ways to do that using something you probably already have in your pantry: white vinegar.

  • Clean windows with a spray bottle filled with 2 cups of water, 1/2 cup of white vinegar, and a dab of liquid dish soap. Make sure you label the bottle and keep it out of the reach of children.
  • Clean your drains and pipes with 1 cup baking soda, and 1 cup hot white vinegar. Let it sit for a few minutes, and then rinse the drain with hot water. The baking soda and vinegar will foam up in the pipes, and clean away debris and germs.
  • Deodorize your home by boiling a mixture of water and white distilled vinegar in a pot. The vinegar odor will only last a few minutes, and will carry away odors with it.
  • Use distilled white vinegar to keep ants away from your home. Spray undiluted distilled white vinegar along the outside of your home wherever they like to come in.
